Winter Graduation is just around the corner so it’s the perfect time to get nostalgic and reflect on what you’ve achieved on your Ulster journey.
Check out what this year’s summer 2018 graduates had to say about their proudest moments during their time at university.
Making Life-long Friends
Starting university can be daunting when you don’t know anybody but it’s the perfect place to meet new, like-minded people and develop lasting friendships.
My proudest moment being an Ulster University student is being able to meet this wonderful bunch of people and being a part of their successes.
I’ve made friends for life through my time studying and my time on placement and I’m forever grateful to Ulster University for that as much as I am for my degree.
The opportunity of an international work placement gives you the chance to experience different cultures, learn new languages and develop independence.
I had the most amazing opportunity to work for Aer Lingus for my placement year in Boston, USA.
Studying at Ulster University gave me the opportunity to study abroad in America for one year through the Study USA scholarship programme. I studied at North Central College in Naperville, IL (just outside of Chicago) where I spent a year representing Ulster University internationally, studying business and Spanish in a new teaching environment, travelling, meeting new people and learning new life skills. I hope more Ulster students take advantage of the amazing opportunities offered like this as I’m so grateful I did!
There is no better feeling than walking across the stage, knowing that your hard work has been worth it and you’ve accomplished what you set out to do.
My final year was such a rewarding experience seeing all our hard work, stress and long hours pay off as we prepared for the first Interaction Design degree show, and the night was a real success! There was such a buzz around the work we had created, it was a perfect start to our careers as designers. To top the year off, finding out I was graduating with a First Class and winning an award for my major project was beyond what I had imagined.
Getting a first in my degree has to be one of the proudest moments of my life not just my university experience. My 4 years at @ulsteruni has been fantastic and I’ve left with so many new friends and experiences that never would have happened unless choosing Ulster University.
Gaining independence, learning new skills and meeting new people all help students to develop their confidence ready for the next challenge.
I became more confident, self-reliant, and spoke more as a result of the time I spent at Coleraine. I was given a safe place to find and explore myself, and to help others do the same, whilst studying there.
Having support along the way from lecturers, UUSU and fellow students is vital in achieving your goals.
My biggest achievement definitely has to be graduating with a 2:1 I never imagined I would have enjoyed my course so much or how great achieving this would feel and I couldn’t have done it without a dedicated lecturer.
